The Ace of Prints event, run by the Welsh Photographic Federation took place at Briton Ferry on 2nd July.

This annual event is always very enjoyable and gives attendees the opportunity to see the stunning images from clubs across the width and breadth of the WPF. It’s a Round based competition with images having to cover a range of subjects from mono, colour, nature and authors. The judges, Rod Wheelans MPAGB FRPS MFIAP FIPF HonPAGB HonSPF, Richard Speirs DPAGB APAGB BPE2 and Gordon Jenkins HonPAGB, assign scores to each image of between 2 and 5, each image will score a total of between 6 and 15 points, before being aggregated into a club score per round.

After the final round Monmouth came away in third place with a magnificent score of 196 points, only 5 points behind overall winners Bridgend & District CC with Afan Nedd CC nestled in second place with 200 points.

As well as third overall Monmouth’s Elisa received the Best Colour Print award for her “Leopard Grooming” and John took home Rod Wheelans judge’s choice ribbon for his “Where’s Mum?” image.

Other notable images which scored the maximum of 15 points were John’s “Close Formation”, Sue’s “Cuckoo” and Adrian’s “Out of Nowhere”.
