WILLIAM FitzOsbern, Earl of Hereford and Lord of Striguil (Chepstow) lead his Norman knights through Chepstow on the weekend (Saturday 15th July).

The event was a re-enactment of the Normans’ arrival in 1067, 950 years ago, when William FitzOsbern established the new castle at Chepstow and the Priory Church of St Mary’s.

The town then grew up between these two buildings.

The procession was led from Chepstow High Street towards the castle lawns, where a Norman fair was held. There was music by the Chepstow Singing Club, and the South-Monmouthshire Celtic folk band.
