THEATR Silures, the South Wales based company was proud to present Welsh poet Dylan Thomas’ masterpiece ‘Under Milk Wood’ often performed in celebration of International Dylan Day at Caldicot Castle.
A 1954 radio drama, Under Milk Wood was commissioned by the BBC and later adapted for the stage.
A film version, directed by Andrew Sinclair, was released in 1972.
Visitors gathered at Caldicot Castle and enjoyed Dylan’s wonderful words on the castle lawns.
Director of the play Adrian Bevan said: “It is always fantastic to bring the beautiful words of Dylan Thomas to a new audience and the setting here at Caldicot Castle is beautiful.”
Six actors took on all the roles of the colourful characters of Llareggub in this award-winning, much lauded production.
Dylan Thomas’ only play conjures a vivid picture of the life, loves, hopes and dreams of the inhabitants of the fictitious seaside town Llareggub.
People experienced the sensual electric thrill of Dylan Thomas’ words as this innovative bare-bones theatre company transported everyone to the colourful world of Llareggub.
This Welsh company presented their loud, bawdy and uninhibited production, and bounced the words of Thomas around the stage with great confidence.
