Lewis Hutton, well known Musical Director of Monmouth Male Voice Choir, is planning to walk the 177 mile length of Offa’s Dyke with his dog Merlin next week to raise funds for suicide prevention charity CALM - the Campaign Against Living Miserably.
“Over the last few years, suicide has affected my close friends and family and this charity is helping to support everyone affected,” explained Lewis.
“Around two years ago I moved to Chepstow and discovered the Offa’s Dyke trail which starts just down the road from my house in Sedbury and ends 177 miles later on the beautiful Prestatyn beach. I’ve decided to walk the trail as a personal challenge whilst at the same time raising money for the charity CALM. I’m going to be completing it over 9 days with my dog Merlin starting on August 27th in Sedbury,” he added.
Monmouth Male Voice Choir Secretary Stuart Baber wished Lewis well in his long walk in support of this very worthwhile cause.
“Choir members will be out to support him with a song when he arrives in Agincourt Square Monmouth on Sunday August 27th after completing the first stage of his walk. Lewis is a great singer and entertainer and I’m sure he will perform for supporters on his way up to Prestatyn.”
The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives.
And 75 per cent of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this by offering life saving services, provoking conversation and bringing people together to reject living miserably. Donations to the charity CALM can be made through https://www.justgiving.com/page/one-man-and-his-dog
Lewis has thanked all those who have already sponsored his walk and hopes to double the donations by the time he completes Offa’s Dyke.
