Monmouth marked the Macmillan Coffee morning with a cornucupia of cakes and coffee. A range of home-made delights was offered in return for a donation towards the cancer support charity Macmillan.

Church Street hairdressers Meraki raised £81. Miles Morgan Travel had some very tasty treats on offer and in return were able to hand over £30 to the charity. Their sister shop in Chepstow also joined in and raised £32.

Further down the street, the staff at the Estero Lounge, Aimee and Lydia had made a very welcoming display of cakes, raising £69.50 for the good cause.

Ernest Opticians in the Oldway centre had a good crowd of local ladies enjoying the food over a chat and a cuppa. £100.74 was donated.

Alexander Wilton, Karen Blake and Jane Green raised £94 at the Blake Theatre.

Lesley Thornton, who organised the coffee morning at the leisure centre, offering cakes and scones and a guess the number of truffles in a box said: "We were sent through the Macmillan coffee morning pack and we’d thought we’d give it a go. I’m surprised how many people brought cakes in".

The Nag's Head had a visit from MP David Davies. Natasha Smith , one of the bar staff said: "We thought it would be nice to get the pub involved in charity and to do something for the community".

McColl’s at Wyesham raised £1,343.75, boosted by Ruth who held a jewellery store and donated the takings and Jacky Goodall and Amy Joelle-Cox raised money for sponsored diet and Sheila Eaves donated jar of sweets to guess the quantity..

A Macmillan coffee morning at St Cadoc’s Church, Raglan in memory of local resident John Ward raised £730.
