EMMA King and Suzy Mills both of Monmouth, will be undertaking an epic feat when they take on the Cateran Yomp in June this year to raise money for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.

The Soldiers’ Charity is the National Charity of the British Army.

The Alliance Trust Cateran Yomp, is an annual 54 mile, 24 hour trek in the heart of Perthshire, which raises money for The Soldiers’ Charity. The event has raised more than £1.8million since it started in 2010.

With 1,000 participants set to take on the 2016 Yomp, it will be the biggest year to date.

Emma and Suzy are hoping to raise £1,000 for The Soldiers’ Charity. Emma said: “I am supporting the charity as I have friends and family in the army which makes it a support that is close to my heart.”

Major General (Ret’d) Martin Rutledge, chief executive of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity said: “The Yomp is a really tough challenge.

“The 54 miles might look easy on paper but once you are trekking in the hills and trails, then it becomes an endurance test.

“Emma and Suzy’s fundraising will make a real difference to the soldiers and veterans that need help and the charity is grateful to her for taking it on.”

Emma is passionate about fundraising for The Soldiers’ Charity having so far raised more than £30,000 after learning about all the good work they do when running  the marathon for them with a friend back in 2010 in memory of local rifleman Jamie Gunn.

Emma was looking for a challenge for 2016 and after some encouragement from the staff at Kings Fee Spar, Suzy got on board too both are looking forward to the challenge.
