Four months lockdown is enough to scare anyone, let alone you and me.
Make a list! We need potatoes for four months, eggs for four months, loo paper for four months, and so the list gets longer and longer.
I was unlucky enough to have been born just before the outbreak of the Second World War. It is beginning to sound a very similar period?
As a child we ate bread and beef dripping. Margarine and a piece of butter but usually just marg. One egg per month. I had a sausage every week but corned beef or fried spam – lovely! I didn’t know what an orange was and I remember looking at my first banana not knowing how to get at the stuff inside. My dad grew all our vegetables in both the back and the front gardens, when he was home that is, as he was usually on duty at the fire station or on top of one of the buildings in Birmingham city centre watching for the bombers coming. It is a know fact that we were healthier then than we are now. So don’t panic buy. We will win this thing, just like we did before.
