CALLS for the Welsh Government to place more urgency on the need for a bypass in Chepstow are being made by Assembly Member Nick Ramsay.
Mr Ramsay has described his ‘disappointment’ after learning this week that the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Ken Skates AM, would not attend a site meeting with Chepstow residents to discuss conducting a feasibility study on a possible by-pass around the town.
Mr Ramsay wrote to Mr Skates after receiving a considerable amount of correspondence from constituents in the Chepstow area, who are concerned about traffic issues in the town and are pressing for a by-pass.
“Understandably, pressure is mounting, with concerns about the effect the planned new housing at Mabey Bridge would have on the existing infrastructure,” he said.
“Mr Skates has apologised for not being able to attend but has said he has asked an official to take the matter forward.
“I hope a meeting can be set up as soon as possible. Chepstow is likely to see a considerable amount of development over the next decade so it is vital that we have a comprehensive plan for the town’s infrastructure.”
