GWENT Police Monmouthshire officers arrested a man in Chepstow on suspicion of multiple shoplifting offences.
Following a search, the male was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance with intent to supply.
The male has since been charged with five thefts from shop offences and has been remanded to appear before the court.
Gwent Police officers will continue to take positive action against those responsible for shoplifting and other offending that impacts local businesses and communities.
Shoplifting is not a victimless crime as it has a real impact on local businesses, staff and the wider community.
They will continue to tackle this type of behaviour and hold offenders accountable.
