MADAM,
As a longterm admirer of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her Royal Family, it was disappointing to see an empty flagpole above the Shire Hall when I photographed the building at the exact historic moment she became the longest reigning monarch in British history. The sun even came out after a cloudy interlude.
Perhaps two flags could have adorned the flagpole one at half mast to commemorate the passing of the Queen’s father George VI. I heard the BBC radio announcement of his passing on the 6th February 1952 and the second at full mast to celebrate Her Majesty’s milestone.
Long may she continue to reign over us.
