A STUDY into the safety of an accident-hotspot road is expected to be completed this autumn.
In a letter to Chepstow Town Council seen by the Beacon, Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infastructure Ken Skates said that the study into the safety of the A466 Wye Valley Link Road in Chepstow is set to be completed later this year, after calls to improve the road’s safety.
The first element of the study involves traffic surveys, including traffic speeds and flows and lay-by usage. Once this part of the study is complete a trial closure of one of the lay-bys will take place to monitor the effect this has on the A466 and other routes.
The calls for improved safety on the road come after a number of injuries and fatalities, the most recent being Gerald Russell, who died after a collision on the road last October.
