MADAM,

It is now urgently necessary that British voters pull themselves together and act responsibly.

The only sensible solution to this calamitous EU referendum is to go out and vote on Thursday to remain in the EU. If the majority vote to leave, the consequences will inevitably be horrendous for Wales, the UK and Europe as a whole.

Do people not realise that this unnecessary acrimonious debate originated because of an internal split within the Conservative Party, and that they are risking the security and unity of the whole of Europe just to satisfy their own selfish political ends? Do people not realise that they are being duped by the populist press into thinking that all of Britain’s woes are caused by Europe, when in fact they originate mostly due to our own archaic attitudes: delusions of grandeur, suspicion of foreigners, paranoia about immigrants, narrow-minded self-centredness.

Do we really want Britain to become a marginalised island off the coast of a Europe dominated by Germany; isolated, unpopular, weak and divided? Do we want to be run by the likes of Boris the clown and Messrs Farage and Gove? Heaven forbid! Please get real, and act responsibly with your vote while we still possess the semblance of sanity.
