MADAM,

Oh! Poor, poor Mr Owen (‘Voters have done unimaginable damage,’ 13th July). Such is his perceived despair, the gentleman gives the impression that he is looking for a bridge to throw himself off because the unpatriotic, totally misguided masses did not agree with him. Basically he has thrown his teddy in the corner.

‘I don’t like the result therefore I demand another vote and we will keep on voting until I get the result that I want.’ ‘They failed to realise our significant standing in the EU.’ Really? We have some standing in the EU? Ask Merkel and Juncker.

He quotes the brain drain, move of industry, break up of the UK, etc. It reminds me of much of the Project Fear viewpoint. Shades of “we are all doomed Mr Mainwaring”.

Incidentally the Scots wanted independence long before the referendum.

I take umbrage at being labelled “unpatriotic and misguided”. We did a lot of research, discussed the topics and tried to see through the spurious claims of the ‘outers’ and the blackmail through conjecture of the ‘remainers’.

We made our conclusions on the evidence that we perused and discussions that we had. However we both came to the decision to vote out. We both believe that the EU is corrupt, bloated and beyond reform or redemption. Thus I have no remorse.

Perhaps it is Mr Owen who himself is misguided; this unelected, dishonest body of people keep, and will keep on, demanding more money from us.

But never mind Mr Owen, when we are broke, perhaps Greece will come to our aid and bail us out, or perhaps we should all go to Dover, hijack a lorry and drive to the Eastern Bloc in search of a better life.
