A 46-year old Yorkshire native now living in Chepstow whose wife is suffering from renal failure has signed up run to this year’s annual Cardiff 10K road race in order to raise funds and awareness for race organisers, Kidney Wales.

Christopher Foster, who lives with his wife Sarah, 43, in Chepstow, is preparing to put on his running shoes to take part in the Cardiff 10K, with the aim of raising vital funds for award winning charity, Kidney Wales.

Over the last 18 months Sarah has seen her health decline rapidly. From living a largely normal life to becoming insulin dependent, her liver function is currently at just 15%.

The couple are now preparing for Sarah to receive daily dialysis treatment at home, four times a day and overnight. Sarah is now on the transplant waiting list to receive a new kidney and pancreas.

Speaking of his wife’s approach to her condition, husband Christopher said: “Sarah has had so much to take in over the last year and neither of us could have predicted how quickly the disease would spread, but her strength has never wavered. Her positive attitude and love for life makes her an inspiration to me.”

Having heard of the great work Kidney Wales does, Chris was inspired to take part in this year’s Cardiff 10K road race which takes place on Sunday 3rd September 2017 and fundraise for Kidney Wales.

Chris said: “The support they provide families like ours across Wales is invaluable and it’s a privilege to be able to do something to support this amazing cause. I’m running for Kidney Wales to not only raise vital funds, but also to raise awareness of the impact kidney disease can have on people like Sarah.”
