Monmouth Castle was the venue for the New Year gathering of the Monmouthshire Hunt and 33 riders turned out for a meet with more than 200 supporters enjoying the sights and spectacle of the horses and the hounds.

Trails had been set ready for the hounds to follow.

Glyn Bennett thanked everyone for attending and supporting the hunt and wished everyone a happy new year.

Later in the day, the Welsh Ambulance service was called at 2.30pm to reports of a rider having been thrown from a horse near Osbaston School, Monmouth. They attended with a rapid response vehicle and an emergency ambulance and a female adult was conveyed to Nevill Hall Hospital with what are believed to be non life-threatening injuries.
