HUNDREDS of toys, donated by generous St David’s Cardiff shoppers, were delivered to Monmouth based charity Home-Start Monmouthshire this week.

More than 200 gifts, including coveted toys from the likes of Hamleys, Lego and Disney, were delivered by a team of Christmas helpers as part of the St David’s Christmas Toy Appeal.

Running until 22nd December, the Toy Appeal is supporting 20 charities across south Wales, and almost 3,000 gifts have been donated so far.

Home-Start offers support to local families and parents who are in in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non-judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family’s confidence and ability to cope.

Judith John, Scheme Manager for the charity, commented: “Home-Start is dedicated to helping families with young children deal with whatever life throws at them so we would like to say a very big thank you to every St David’s shopper who has donated to the Toy Appeal – you have made a very big difference to local families and children this Christmas.”

Steven Madeley, general manager for St David’s, added: “We are thrilled to be supporting Home-Start to help bring some Christmas magic to the families that they represent. Christmas is such an exciting time for us all as we wait to see what gifts we’ve received, but unfortunately there are many children across Wales who do not always have this luxury.

“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of our shoppers so far, and hope to make a positive difference to children across South Wales this year.”

Shoppers who want to take part can head to one of two donation stations at St David’s: near the Clogau store on the lower level and near Watches of Switzerland. There they will be able to collect a Christmas treat and an exclusive 10 per cent off voucher for purchases at Hamleys.
