CHEPSTOW Harriers turned out en masse to raise money for the Nepal earthquake relief on Saturday 23rd May.

The event, together with a sweepstake at one of the club's handicap running events, brought the total overall raised to more than £400.

The money will be donated to the Shiva Charity, where a Bristolian man called Bob Uppington, is feeding and sheltering those made homeless by the earthquake.

The amount raised will build four temporary homes for a year.

34 Harriers were at the park run fundraiser and the club donated £10 to every Harrier who ran.

It was a stunning day for the park run around the grounds of Tredegar House.

As well as raising much needed funds for the disaster relief in Nepal, many Harriers achieved personal best times.

Jonathan Carter was so thrilled with his personal best time of 19 minutes and 5 seconds that he felt compelled to donate an extra £10 to the charity.

There were many others who could not attend the park run, but donated to the cause anyway.

Chepstow Harrier Niki Morgan said: "I was so pleased with the turn out by Chepstow Harriers to support this fundraising event for those suffering in Nepal.

"To be able to raise enough money to finance the building of four temporary homes will make a difference to lives shattered by the earthquake.

"Many Nepalese people are living in tents as their homes have been demolished by the earthquake, or just in fear of the aftershocks.

"It was a proud day to display the red and blue Chepstow vest today for this cause."
