A GENEROUS Monmouth woman has donated more than £1,600 and her hair for her friend’s mother.
Jess Lloyd, who makes wigs, had 12 inches of her hair cut on Thursday (1st December) after discovering her friend’s mother Jeanette was suffering from cancer.
A nervous Jess had her hair cut by Kat Pugh at Helmet Hers in Monmouth, with her hair plaited to help her making the wig.
At the time of going to print the fundraising page set up to raise money for Cancer Research UK has reached £1,635, after generous donations and a pub quiz evening at The Angel Inn in Grosmont which raised more than £1,000.
The pub quiz evening included a silent auction and a performance from local band ‘The BBC Acoustic Band’ who played for free. The Angel Inn also donated 20 per cent of their profits to the charity for the evening, helping Jess towards her fundraising goal.
An emotional Jeanette said: “I am so overwhelmed with what Jess is doing for me and just the amazing kindness and generosity she has shown. The fundraising event the girls organised was so successful and everyone kept telling me what a wonderful time they had. We raised so much money for such a tiny village which is amazing.
“Seeing how many people showed up to support the event and share the appreciation of what Jess is doing for me makes me so emotional and happy. I really don’t know how to thank everyone and especially Jess enough.”
