THE hair came flying off at a Monmouth barbershop last Saturday, 17th June, all in a good cause.

Donna Sayce Allan, proprietor of the the Chop Shop in Church Street and Cara Worgan had customers queuing out of the door to support their charity headshave day for Cancer Research UK.

The first charity cut was just after 7am, and the they didn’t stop until 2pm and raised a tremendous £1,031 for the charity.

They had two free cinema tickets donated by the Savoy theatre and two meals at Henry’s Cafe for the raffle, as well as yummy cup cakes donated by The White Swan Tea Rooms courtesy of Mary Mahabir, with thanks also to Valerie Ball for her help.

"We raised £640 last year on a similar charity drive and wanted to beat that total,” said Donna. “Next year we want to do something different next year for autism awareness, or Mencap,” she added.
