TIRED of looking at what appeared to be a piece of waste ground in Chepstow, a group of "guerrilla gardeners" took matters into their own hands.

The patch of overgrown land, next to the subway leading from Tesco to Chepstow town centre, was given a bit of love by a group of concerned citizens. They brought their own tools early one morning, and tidied up the area.

A spokesperson for the secretive group of four enthusiasts said: "This is a gateway to our town! What message does it send when the first public garden you see looks such a mess?"

Two bags of recyclable and one bag of non-recyclable litter were collected from the area and 10 bags of thistles and other weeds were taken to the

recycling centre.
