MEMBERS of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution’s Monmouthshire committee received a £1,000 boost from organisers of the Chepstow Show.

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is a welfare charity which helps farming people of all ages in financial difficulty. Support is confidential and includes one-off or regular grants, funding for disability equipment and/ or household items such as white goods and payments towards relief farm staff, home-help and care costs.

Each year, RABI gives out grants of around £2 million in Wales and England. Much of the funding comes from events arranged by county committees.

Volunteers from RABI had a successful day at the 2017 Chepstow Show, thanks to the generosity of the show committee and Gwilym Richards & Co Auctioneers, who provided a pitch. The Chepstow Show committee raised the funds for RABI at their companion dog show and other events.

Gwilym Richards, chairman of RABI’s Monmouthshire committee, said: “We are very grateful to Chepstow Show for their support. This donation is a significant addition to our fundraising efforts in Monmouthshire.”

Linda Jones, RABI regional manager for Wales, added: “Our fundraising events in Monmouthshire are always well supported and this committee works extremely hard to raise both funds and awareness of what we do. Many farming families are finding life difficult at the moment as it’s been a long and hard winter, but we are here to help.”
