A GROUP of daredevils braved the zipwire at Chepstow Dive Centre last Saturday (17th May) to raise £2,000 for toddler Imogen Ashwell-Lewis. 30 Imogen supporters, the youngest of which was only six years old, joined forces to launch themselves off the 70 metre high cliff edge and travel 40 miles per hour along the 700 metre long wire. Imogen's mum, Catherine Ashwell-Rice, told the Beacon that Imogen was itching to have a go on the zipwire, despite being too young. Two-and-a-half-year-old Imogen Ashwell-Lewis was born 11 weeks early and, as a result, suffers from spastic diplegia, a form of cerebral palsy. £40,000 needs to be raised for Imogen to receive Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) treatment, reducing spasticity in her legs and enabling her to walk unaided. Prior to the zipwire, Sylvester and Tweety collected money for Imogen at Caldicot Co-operative, raising £80 for the tot. Caldicot Co-operative is also holding a coffee morning to raise money for Imogen on Tuesday 10th June.
