A FUNDRAISING appeal to support a Monmouth mum has raised more than £10,600.

After giving birth to her twin boys Fox and Teddy, Charlotte Fairlie sadly suffered a huge stroke. Complications led to two brain bleeds and a blood clot on her brain.

The fund has been set up to help Charlotte’s rehabilitation and to support her family. Charlotte’s husband Rob has stopped working to support his wife and look after her full time.

It is hoped the fund will raise enough for devices to improve Charlotte’s mobility and further specialist treatment and speech therapy to give her the best chance of recovery.

Charlotte needs daily rehabilitation but is making progress.

Good friend Jess Haagen, who has been fundraising tirelessly, said: “The support we’ve had for Charlotte has been amazing. I know everyone has been overwhelmed.

“Charlotte’s making progress, every time I see her she says a new word and is now able to tell which words go with which.

“She’s working so hard and is determined to get better. She goes to rehabilitation every day at 9am for three to four hours.

“She recently had a twitch in her right hand. Charlotte wasn’t impressed by this but a twitch was how one of her legs began improving.

“Charlotte always has a smile but I know how frustrating it must be for her. She doesn’t complain about anything.”

A fundraiser for Charlotte will take place on Saturday 21st November from 7pm at the Gatehouse featuring live music and an auction.

Jess is inviting businesses across Monmouthshire to donate auction prizes for the event. It is hoped the event will raise a few thousand for Charlotte’s recovery.
