THOUSANDS of visitors flocked to Chepstow Racecourse on Saturday for the annual Chepstow Show.
Organised by Chepstow Agricultural Society, the event featured a wide range of events all day and attracted more than 8,000 visitors.
A packed main ring programme included falconry displays, mounted games, sheepdog displays and the spectacular ‘Lamb National’. The Lamb National in particular drew huge crowds towards the main ring, ready to be entertained by Bob Hogg’s specialist display.
The livestock sections were a success, and culminated in the grand parade in the main ring, while the horse section saw entrants come from far and wide to attend.
The vintage section displayed an array of vehicles and machinery from yesteryear; including a mix of tractors, stationary engines and cars.
Food tent, horticulture and trade stands ensured that show-goers were kept entertained.
Among the many guests was Monmouth Assembly Member Nick Ramsay who was collecting signatures for a petition calling for a better funding settlement for Monmouthshire. He said: “As usual, it was a wonderful family day out, with a wide range of competitions, activities and events, enhanced by the sunny weather.
“I was delighted by the response to my petition, which attracted a lot of interest, with hundreds of people signing up.
“I would like to congratulate everyone involved in staging such a successful and enjoyable show, with special thanks to the show president, Neville Waters, for his help in arranging the show and for his hospitality on the day.”
