AFTER A dazzling array of star studded shows in 2016, Chepstow’s Castell Roc Festival has been inundated with requests to play at the acclaimed festival, with the first act announced today (16th November).

Performing the music of the Temptations, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Four Tops, Stevie Wonder, Jackson Five, Marvin Gaye, Lionel Ritchie and scores more, will be ‘The Magic Of Motown’.

Reviving the wondrous, classic Motown hits with all the dazzling dance moves, glittering costume changes and superb musicianship of the original artistes, the show has been enjoyed by more than one million people worldwide and will come to Chepstow on Saturday 19th August.

A spokesperson from the festival said: “We had an amazing 2016, with superb acts including The Proclaimers, The Shires and not forgetting Jools Holland OBE. It was an honour to see such household names at Chepstow and ultimately to see the many thousands of visitors attracted from near and far enjoying the shows and the Town as a whole.

“As a non-profit making organisation it is very humbling and makes all the hard work worthwhile for the team behind the festival.

“We must convey our thanks to Cadw and the people of Chepstow. Wherever possible the festival is proud to support local companies in the festival’s infrastructure, all of which are of a superb quality.

“Moving on to our plans for 2017, the old saying ‘going from strength to strength’ is a bit of a cliché and also an understatement. Since August the phone has not stopped ringing with offers to play in 2017 as word continues to spread about both the wonderful venue and the amazing atmosphere created within Chepstow Castle. We are very fortunate to be in the position where we can be selective and our team are currently finalising the bill for 2017.”
