REDBROOK is gearing up for hundreds of visitors to its sixth annual Live on the Wye music festival.

Taking place this weekend (12th and 13th June), the event is sponsored by the Monmouthshire Beacon and Chepstow Beacon Newspapers.

The festival takes place in Redbrook on the banks of the River Wye and has grown in popularity over recent years, developing a reputation for attracting original up and coming musicians from across Wales and the West.

Festival organisers say there is a more extensive children's programme this year, coupled with an arts and crafts market, locally sourced food and drink, and riverside camping.

Festival Chairman Sarah Sheasby, said: "This year's festival promises to be even better quality in response to the feedback of our visitors.

"We are excited to be introducing a number of new features in addition to all the other great things we are known for – fantastic music, a stunning riverside setting and top quality family entertainment."

Live on the Wye kicks off with a fringe event on the evening of Friday 12th June at the Bell Inn, with three acts including the Wow Signal – a punky rock 'n' roll quintet, Sera – a talented singer-songwriter from north Wales, and Southern Harmony – a folk act from Wiltshire.

There will be a barbecue in the courtyard from 7pm if weather permits.

A packed Saturday line-up

starts at 1.30pm with an opening chorus from Rock Choir, the UK's largest amateur choir.

More than 30 local members are expected to take part in the performance.

This will be followed by a packed line-up of eclectic music across two stages.

Taking to the Main Stage are alternative pop band Broken Fires, Clyde Jefferson who specialise in a feel-good factor programme, reggae funk and soul, and X–Factor's John Adams, who proved a hit last year and has returned to a later slot on the Main Stage in 2015.

They support headliners Sion Russell Jones – an acclaimed singer-songwriter – and Stereosonics (pictured), one of the UK's top tribute acts.

Meanwhile, the Wye River Stage will feature music by the talented Maddie Jones, blues tribute act Sicknote Steve, BBC The Voice's Ragsy and post-punk act A Body of People.

Tickets cost £8 and are available from Redbrook Village Stores, The Bell Inn and online at www.
