?The spirit of Monmouth Santa Fun Run is being held this year on Sunday December 5.
The route is 2.1km through Monmouth and it begins at 10am.
The number of runners allowed to participate are limited to 500 therefore anyone who wants to participate in the event is asked to register between 9am-9.45am to confirm their place in the race.
Entry is £7 for an adult, £3 for a child and £20 per family up to a maximum of five.
Medals will be awarded to any children involved in the fun run as well as a mince pie/ chocolate roll for each participant.
All profits go to Monmouthshire County Councils Children’s Services Teams Christmas Wishes campaign which will be providing Christmas gifts for Monmouthshire’s most vulnerable children and young people.
A collection point for Monmouth Food Bank will also be at the event and any participants or spectators are asked to bring something along to donate is you can. Prizes will be awarded for the best dressed Santas!
*Saving Grace featuring Robert Plant and Suzi Dian will perform at The Blake Theatre on Friday December 17 at 7:30pm with support from Scott Matthews. Robert Plant and Suzi Dian are on vocals, Oli Jefferson will be percussion, Tony Kelsey on the mandolin, baritone and acoustic guitars and Matt Worley will be performing on the banjo, Cuatro, acoustic and baritone guitars.

Tickets are limited to four per person and are £33.50 each.
A Christmas Carol- As told by Jacob Marley at The Blake Theatre
On Thursday December 2 Brother Wolf will present A Christmas Carol as told by Jacob Marley. As told from the perspective of Scrooge’s deceased business partner, the award-winning stage adaptation has been hailed as the “definitive telling of A Christmas Carol”, and rated as one of “the top Christmas Shows in London, Edinburgh and around the UK. The play has also been recognised by The Queen for its part in Dickensian Scholarship, this “forcefully compelling masterpiece” delivers thrills, chills and excitement aplenty for all ages. Jacob Marley is dead and condemned to an eternity of carrying a heavy chain, forged in life; a life to which he can no longer return except to recount the tale of his miserly business partner, Ebenezer Scrooge, and the path that lead to his redemption. Through Marley’s words, we learn how three magical spirits opened Scrooges eyes and made him realise the true value of love and forgiveness. Adult tickets cost £12 and under 18’s tickets cost £10 and can be bought on thebalketheatre.org website. The play will run from 7pm to 8:15pm for approximately 75 minutes without an interval.
