TRAFFIC over Chepstow's Old Wye Bridge has come to a holt this morning, (1st April) as entrance for some has been denied.
The ruling follows the recent discovery of a 15th century charter in the archives of a local museum.
Though barely legible, historians believe the charter dates back to the time of Owain Glyndwr. Unbelievably, it states that on the first day, of the fourth month, of the 15th year of the 21st century, no Englishman is permitted to enter Wales.
Chepstow Town Mayor, Ned Heywood MBE, is on duty on the Old Bridge, reading the charter to those who wish to enter, and turning all Englishmen away.
As a border town, several town officials have been tasked to cover all other entry points into the country.
The charter decrees that the ban will be lifted at 12pm today. If you wish to cross the border before then, please have a passport to hand.
