A KIND-HEARTED six-year-old has been growing her hair out for a charitable cause.

Elora Hartley, a pupil from Dell Primary School in Chepstow has chosen to help children and young adults suffering from hairloss by donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides wigs to children and young people who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.

Not only is Elora handing over her locks for those less fortunate but she’s also raising the money needed to make that hair into a wig. To fit and supply a real hair wig costs £550 and with the help and support of her mum Sam, she achieved that goal this week, having raised the money with donations from over 40 supporters.

Elora heard of a little girl whose hair fell out when she was unwell and felt it must be a very upsetting for a child not to have hair. She learned about the Little Princess Trust and how they provide wigs to young people.

She was “a little bit nervous” about having her hair shortened by 35cm, but thanks to the talents of hairdresser Zory Vlahova, Elora ended up with a stylish new look. Zory of Rockarella Hair Salon kindly offered to style Elora’s hair free-of-charge to support her charitable campaign.

Impressed with the new style Elora said “I really like it.”

When asked what motivated her to give away her hair she said: “I thought it would be a nice way to help people who feel sick.”

Elora’s mother Sam Hartley said: “I’ve very proud of her and thank you to everyone who donated.”

Based in Hereford, the Little Princess Trust provides free, real hair wigs to children and young people across the UK, who have lost their own hair. They have supplied over 8,000 wigs and have invested approximately £5 million into ground-breaking childhood cancer research.

Any further donations can be made at Rockarella until the end of September, or via https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/SamHartley2
