THE gardens of Raglan VC Primary School underwent a complete transformation on Thursday after the school won a competition.

The school won a free garden makeover from a competition held by Wyevale Garden Centres which aimed to change a garden space which meant something to the local community.

It was all hands on deck to complete the works with students working with volunteers from the Raglan Wyevale Garden Centre and former students.

Some of the new additions to the schools garden were garden boxes and garden beds filled with new plants.

Other features include a wildlife meadow, miniature fruit trees and a bespoke bee hotel.

Armed with gardening gloves students from every year level participated in the works during the day, spreading soil, planting plants and getting their hands dirty.

The school was chosen as the winner of the competition through votes from Monmouthshire locals.

The now finished garden is not just for show, it will have a continual impact on the students promoting interaction and involvement with the garden.
