CHEPSTOW-based professional golfer Liam Bond has received a business boost from TV's Dragons Den star Theo Paphitis through the social media platform Twitter.
Last week Liam, former European Tour Player and founder of Liam Bond VIP Golf Tuition Breaks, tweeted Mr Paphitis about his business during 'Small Business Sunday', a weekly initiative set up by the Dragons Den star.
Mr Paphitis re-tweeted Liam's message to his 260,000 followers and as a result, the business (http://www.vipgolftuitionbreaks.com">www.vipgolftuitionbreaks.com) had 50 more followers in the first few hours and several enquiries for golf breaks.
The business is also profiled on a new website (http://www.theopaphitissbs.com">www.theopaphitissbs.com) which is exclusive to Small Business Sunday winners.
VIP Golf Tours takes golfers of all standards and organises their holiday in its entirity to whichever golf club they choose.
Mr Bond then gives high end tuition, benefitting any player from the recreational to the aspiring professional.
"I started this business a year ago to help fund my playing career but it soon became clear that it is something I'm good at and that there is a market for it," said Mr Bond.
"It is great to have support from Theo because it has been tough trying to raise my profile and Theo has recognised my hard work and helped spread the word about what I do.
"I only ever wanted to play golf. I moved to the St Pierre, Chepstow, at the age of 19 to do my professional golfing qualifications and have lived here ever since."
Mr Bond was on the prestigious European Tour circuit (the European Tour is the second most important tour in men's golf, behind the PGA Tour) from 2005 to 2012 and has invested a significant amount of effort and money into becoming one of the best players in the country.
In 2013 so far he has already won three order of merit competitions and taken a group of players to Spain for a training holiday.
"To keep your card [stay on the European Tour] costs quite a lot. I am hoping that my new business venture will benefit clients by offering them access to a professional golfer's experience and also benefit me by helping to fund my golfing habit," said Mr Bond.
Anyone looking for a re-tweet from Theo should tweet him about their business on Sunday between 5pm and 7.30pm and include the hashtag #SBS.
Six lucky businesses are re-tweeted every Monday at 8pm and then invited to enter their profile on the new website.
This is done free of charge and the new website is sponsored by Ryman Stationery, where Theo is chairman.
