OPERATION Christmas Child, a scheme run by the Christian relief and development agency Samaritan’s Purse, are seeking donations for this year’s appeal.
The scheme relies on people packing a shoe box with gifts and useful items, with the box being wrapped and sent to underprivileged children worldwide.
Leaflets for this years appeal can be picked up at Specsavers in Monmouth for anyone who would like to pack a shoebox with essentials for a child to enjoy. The leaflet explains the details.
Specsavers will also accept completed shoeboxes from members of the public.
The appeal is being co-ordinated by Monmouth Methodist Church, and completed shoeboxes can also be dropped off at the Methodist Church in St James street from 1st to 18th November any morning (except Monday) from 9.45am to 12pm (11.30am on Thursday.) They can also be dropped on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons from 3.30pm to 6.15pm.
Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest children’s Christmas relief, and development organisation Samaritans Purse are planning this year to include refugees as shoebox recipients.
