A MONMOUTHSHIRE distillery is looking forward to showcasing its new cocktail recipes at a series of foodie events this summer, following last week’s announcement that hospitality would begin reopening in Wales at the end of April.

Silver Circle Distillery, which is based in Catbrook near Tintern, is preparing to launch a program of summer events after the First Minister announced last Thursday (April 1) that hospitality in Wales could reopen outdoors from April 26, and potentially indoors after May 17 in time for Spring Bank Holiday.

For their program of ’Street Food Saturday’ events, owners Nina and Joe Howden will invite several leading street food traders to the distillery on every second Saturday of the month between May and September.

A range of well-known traders are confirmed to appear at the events, including American barbecue from Hungry Monkey, jerk chicken from The Hogfather, burgers from The Beefy Boys, spicy mezze from Parma Spices and tacos from The Bearded Taco.

Nina and Joe will be serving up the drinks at the events, including their own cocktail recipes created using local botanicals and craft distillations.

The distillery is surrounded by stunning views that stretch out across the Wye Valley and the venue has ‘plenty of space’ for up to 50 socially-distanced guests per sitting.

The business was established by Nina and Joe in 2019, who connected over their love of food, drink and nature, with the intention of using local ingredients to create ‘unique spirits and distillations’.

Nina said: “We have always loved experimenting with flavour pairings, and matching good cocktails with good food, so we’re really looking forward to hosting these ‘Street Food Saturday’ events over the summer. We’ve been working hard during lockdown and over the winter to get everything ready, and now we can’t wait to showcase some of our new cocktail recipes, whilst some of our favourite traders take care of the food.”

There will be room for a limited number of walk-ins at the events, while the distillery will be open for outdoor drinks from April 26 with bottles also available to take away.
