MADAM,
We acknowledge that people arriving at the European Union borders have their own reasons for being there. We pretend to know political wisdom and know that although many are fleeing from terror, including those from the Middle East where the Christian religion began, that some are also economic migrants whose countries would benefit from their courage and determination.
However, they are strangers at our gates and all need to be shown simple acts of kindness.
Join us on Wednesday 23rd September outside St James’s Church in Wyesham at 7.30pm when we will light candles, share simple food, listen to a short reading, have time to meditate and demonstrate our care for the migrants still in refugee camps, and those who have made the journey to our borders.
If you cannot join us, light a candle in your window at home.
This act of witness has been organised by the Wye Reaches group of parishes. For more information contact Rev Penny Powdrill 01600 714096 or Rev Kevin Cecil 01600 713459.
