MADAM,

As party leader of the British Empire Party, it seems it is still going on. On your letters pages about Chippenham Mead, I will say this again: Chippy was given to the people of Monmouth (Monmouthians) by Rolls of the Rolls Royce fame for the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. I have got a copy of the 1888 Monmouthshire Beacon.

Our party will be having a meeting shortly to discuss the future of Chippy, and Monmouth (Monmouthians) will decide who will run Chippy. A committee which will be decided at the meeting and the Shire Hall which again Rolls gave to Monmouth as a gift the Shire Hall has got a charter on it King George IV. In one of the letters in last week’s Beacon stated that Chippy is a village green. It is not.

Just before Christmas we had a meeting which was about Chippy. Where were the friends of Chippy, and who put them in charge?

It took me eight years to research Monmouth and Monmouthshire.

There will be a meeting at the Riverside Hotel on Tuesday 31st January at 11am.

I would like as many Monmouth people as possible to come so you can have your say on Chippy, Rolls Hall and Shire Hall.

I hope the friends of Chippy will be there.

Gary Witcombe
