A DECISION on whether or not to approve a 100 metre water slide for

Chepstow high street has been postponed pending further information.

Councillors discussed the benefits the water slide could have for the town which, if approved, would take up residence for the August bank holiday weekend.

Chepstow Town Council at their meeting last Wednesday (28th January) decided they needed more information about the safety of the event.

Councillor Armand Watts said: "I took my family to the water slide in Bristol and there was a nice atmosphere.

The additional benefits were that traders were glad of extra business.

"We should support it but we need to look at safety."

Deputy mayor Dale Rooke express-ed concerns over the affordability of the event. He said: "It is £15 for one ride and it's something a family won't be able to afford."

The slide will be set up by the National Diving and Activity Centre, Tidenham. Money raised at the event will be donated to charity.
