MADAM,

I read with sorrow the death of a talented young man cycling in Australia. I hope that all members of local and national cycling clubs note that he was wearing “dark clothing with little reflective material”.

It is almost a daily event that I  encounter virtually invisible cyclists ascending through the Lydart bends.

Why wear black?

Please wear high vis jacket or sash and stand out on the roads. As a careful driver of more than 40 years I worry about the cyclists who are almost impossible to see on many rural roads.

I hope my letter will encourage other cyclists to think about the risks they pose to themselves and ‘be safe be seen!’

My sincere condolences to the Hall family.
