A MONMOUTHSHIRE man pleaded guilty to multiple offences including burglary, possession of crack cocaine and assaulting police.
Edward Johns, 37, of Glen Farm, Shirenewton admitted to the offences at Newport Magistrates Court last week.
The offences took place in 2024 and 2026 respectively.
In November 2024, Johns entered Monmouth’s Marches Deli as a trespasser and stole various items of unknown value.
Also in the same month, Johns had a quantity of crack cocaine in his possession when he was stopped by police in Chepstow.
In February 2026, Johns committed a number of motoring offences. He pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent. He also drove on Chepstow’s Moor Street whilst drunk and was breathalysed, where he recorded 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35.
In April, 2026, Johns stole alcohol from Chepstow’s Shop Locally, to the value of £41.28.
In June this year, Johns was the person in charge of a dog which was dangerously out of control causing injury, contrary to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991. The court was told that in Trellech, Johns was in charge of a border collie, which injured a police officer.
Johns also pleaded guilty to assaulting two officers in the execution of their duty.
Johns’ next hearing will be at Newport Magistrates' Court on July 16.
