A BUDGET increase from £25,000 to £200,000 to improve links between Newport Road and Caldicot Asda will be discussed today (4th February).

After receiving planning consent for Asda in April 2012, Monmouthshire County Council (MCC) agreed on a planning obligation to provide a Section 106 contribution of £200,000 towards linkage improvements between Newport Road and the supermarket.

MCC established a budget of £25,000 to progress design development, with the remaining £175,000 to be reserved for implementation.

Following investigation of plans presented to the public last November, an adjustment has been made, delaying submission of a planning application.

It has been recommended that the budget be extended to the full Section 106 receipt of £200,000 while the planning application is being considered.

MCC's cabinet will meet today to discuss the recommendations put forward.
