MADAM,

My child came home from school with a leaflet handed out by the Friends of Chippenham Mead saying that they “are collecting the views of local school children about the new playground which is coming to Chippenham Mead”.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I did not know there was a new playground coming, I was under the impression there was a bit of discussion as to whether to refurbish the old one or build a new one.

This letter implies that the new playground is coming. How am I to explain to a nine year old there may not be a new playground as the adults have a lot of talking to do yet, even though he thinks his design will be the winning one!

Isn’t this a bit confusing, especially as he doesn’t read the Beacon’s letters page yet (thank goodness)!
