ON Saturday 16th May the Chepstow Piano Academy, directed by Yvonne Lewis, presented an evening of piano music in aid of a piano for the Drill Hall.

The evening raised £1,055 thanks to talented young pianists, aged 6-16, performing a programme of solos, duets, two pianos – eight hands and Megan Burgess appeared as soloist in the 2nd movement of Shostakovich's Piano Concerto number 2.

Attending were newly elected chairman of Monmouthshire County Council Brian Strong, Chepstow Town Councillor Tom Kirton and local musical celebrity Karl Daymond, who was the evening's adjudicator.

Prizes went to Bruno and Fiip Chitnis for best duet performance, Grace Nicholls for excellent solo performance and the evening's outstanding solo performance prize was shared by brothers Joe and Tom Rooney.
