A NEW weekly community cafe has opened for the first time. The cafe serves breakfasts, drinks and cake from St Mary’s Community Church Hall in Rogiet every Wednesday between 9.00am and 12.00pm, and cafe coincides with the bi-weekly mobile service by The Post Office which replaces the now-closed Rogiet Post Office.
Fay Baxter and Ilona Watson, who created the cafe and run it alongside other volunteers, had this to say:
“This has been a fantastic first day for us, we’ve been busy all morning with a mixture of old and new faces. The response has been overwhelming and we want to emphasise the social aspect of this cafe.
“As Rogiet has no pub or Post Office now, it’s a chance for people to meet and catch-up in a good environment. Everything we sell is homemade and we welcome everyone, please get in touch if you want to volunteer!”
The Rogiet Community Cafe is open every Wednesday between 9.00am and 12.00pm, and The Post Office van provides a service on Wednesdays between 9.30am and 11.30 am, and on Fridays between 11am and 12pm.
