MADAM, Your item about the Scarlet Tiger Moth (Wed 18th July, page 13) was interesting. This day-flying moth is currently common in Chepstow and many of us see it regularly in our gardens or allotments in early summer. In fact I have seen it more often in recent years than some of the commoner butterflies, such as the Small Tortoiseshell, for which this moth can be easily mistaken at a distance. Records of moth sightings can be submitted via the Moths Count website http://www.mothscount.org">www.mothscount.org Marc Carlton (Chepstow)
