MADAM,

May I, through the letters page, thank the people of Monmouth for their support last year when the Monmouth Festival introduced its ‘glass-free’ policy.

This has now become a requirement for all festival licences within the town and, once again, we shall advertise this fact at key points throughout the town and across the festival site.

We want everyone who comes to the festival to enjoy themselves and hope those attending the festival will give the same level of support to the glass-free policy as last year. Please don’t take offence if you are asked not to come on to the site because you have bottles or glasses. We shall provide some decanting facilities but it would be better if people took heed and came prepared.

Help us to help you. Help us to keep our licence. Help us to ensure that we can continue to give you one of the longest running, largest free festivals in Europe, put on entirely by our unpaid volunteers. Help us to make sure that you enjoy the whole experience and nothing upsets your plans for the evening.
