A MONMOUTH Town junior footballer showed off his interviewing skills this week when he landed an interview with Welsh football team manager Chris Coleman.
Ten year old Oliver Edwards, a Monmouth Town under 11, was invited to the press conference at The Vale Resort near Cowbridge last week where the Welsh football squad was unveiled ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Serbia. He used the opportunity to ask Chris Coleman: ‘What advice would you give me to motivate others to play sport?
An impressed Coleman responded: “Don’t be afraid to give it everything you have got, you need mental strength, if you really want something you have to keep going until you get it right but don’t forget to enjoy the journey!”
Following the conference Chris Coleman generously gave time for a one to one interview.
Asked about his experience Oliver said: “I was a little bit nervous but I wanted to make the most of the experience and enjoy every minute. Mr Coleman was really inspiring. All the advice he gave me was motivational but the one thing I will always remember is to always enjoy the journey! It was the best day of my life and an experience I will never forget.”
