A SHOW for classic car enthusiasts could be in danger as one of its founding members prepares to take a break from the driving seat.
The seventh Penallt Classic Car Show took place in August 2014 on the Penallt Cricket Ground, with the biennial event welcoming enthusiasts from around the county. The show featured a range of classic cars and bikes on display on the cricket pitch, with the oldest car on display being a 1914 Grant TT.
With the 2016 show’s future in doubt, organiser John Tudgay is looking for a fellow enthusiast to take over. Initially a small working group of four enthusiasts was set up to organise and run the show but, for various reasons, John has been the only member left of the group to organise shows in recent years. "I am growing long in the tooth now,” he said. “It is a shame to stop the shows not only for loss of income but also because a lot of people have enjoyed these shows over the years and look forward to them.
“However nobody has come forward to offer to take over or help with the show organisation and you cannot expect anybody who is not an old vehicle enthusiast to get involved.
“I would also wish to place on record my appreciation of all the help from the WI and many others who have helped on the day of the show."
Anyone interested in helping can contact John on 01600 775544 or by email at [email protected]
