THE Raise the Roof Campaign for St Cadoc’s Church edged over £47,000 with a concert held on Saturday 10th December.

The Chepstow Male Voice Choir were joined by local harpist Emily Harris to perform a variety of music ranging from West End Musicals to the traditional Christmas Carols at a concert which raised £1,059 pushing the total to £47,405.

The last time the choir performed in Raglan was over 23 years ago. The performance was in front of an almost capacity audience, and the choir shared a stage with Emily Harris, an accomplished harpist now a third year student at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, who gave an outstanding performance in two sections, with a particularly haunting rendition of Stings’ ‘Fields of Gold’.

The Raise the Roof Campaign committee thanked both Chepstow Choir and Emily for donating their time to perform in aid of the campaign.

The concert was also held in memory of David Kennard who was a member of the choir for many years.

Work on the roof at St Cadoc’s is still continuing although it is anticipated that it will be complete early in the new year.

The next event in support of the campaign is a quiz night being held to raise further funds on the 29th December at the Beaufort Hotel Raglan.

Tickets can be purchased at the Beaufort for £12 which includes supper.

On Saturday 17th December, the choir we will be holding their annual Christmas concert at Chepstow Leisure Centre at 7pm. Guests include the Lydney Training Band and soprano Angharad Morgan.

Tickets can be purchased from Herbert Lewis Department Store and Chepstow Leisure Centre.
