BABY hedgehogs and visiting school children from Chernobyl were just a few of the highlights from Grand Summer Fun Day 2015, run by Gwent Wildlife Trust (GWT).
This year organisors of GWT's fun day at Magor Marsh on Saturday 11th July, welcomed more than 200 visitors – including seven children from Chernobyl in Ukraine.
Everyone had the chance to meet a wide variety of wildlife including water voles, barn owls and three baby hedgehogs.
The three prickly youngsters were under the careful watch of Hedgehog Helpline staff and Martyn Wright, GWT's own membership officer, who rescues hedgehogs.
Organisers from GWT thanked the volunteers and stall holders who had helped made the event possible.
Kathy Barclay, Magor Community Officer and event organiser, said: "We all had a lovely day and were really pleased so many people joined us to enjoy learning about the history, day to day running of the reserve and the fantastic variety of wildlife on offer including our Magnificent Marshy Mammals."
GWT manages a water vole reintroduction programme at it's Magor Marsh site which is supported by The Co-operative's Welsh Wildlife Heroes campaign.
Magor Marsh is open all year round and there are already plans underway for another GWT Grand Summer Fun Day in 2016.
