CHEPSTOW is set to host Wales's first Walkers Are Welcome annual get together after competing with eight other towns for the privilege.
The two-day event will take place from Saturday 18th October to Sunday 19th October and is an opportunity for walkers and delegates from across Wales to share experiences and pool ideas at a number of educational and social events.
Following the official opening by the mayor of Chepstow there will be a series of Saturday workshops at venues around the town covering topics such as walks for the visually impaired and lessons in media and PR.
SARA have planned to put on a display at the riverside and the day will be rounded off with a social evening at St Pierre, Marriott Hotel & Country Club including a performance from Chepstow Male Choir and a ceilidh.
Tickets are priced at £28 and include a drinks reception, dinner with a half bottle of wine plus entertainment, everyone is welcome.
Sunday has been set aside for the AGM, with guest speakers and a presentation by Sidmouth, the host town for 2015.
A highlight of the day will be the unveiling of a Walkers are Welcome commemorative wall hanging, a project devised by Chepstow Walkers.
The ultimate aim is for each accredited town or village to contribute its own creative square.
Robin Craine, chair of Chepstow Walkers are Welcome said: "This is a great opportunity for the town's residents and businesses to showcase everything that Chepstow has to offer."
Anyone with an interest in either walking for the visually impaired or the disabled is encouraged to take advantage of the free Saturday workshops at the Castle View Inn and The Drill Hall.
