CHEPSTOW Town Council and the Royal British Legion will host a short remembrance service to commemorate Victory over Japan (VJ) Day on Friday, August 15.

The service will be held at 12 noon at the War Memorial in Chepstow. Residents are invited to join to mark 80 years since the day Imperial Japan surrendered, which brought an end to the Second World War.

A Chepstow Town Council spokesperson said: “We come together to honour all who served and sacrificed, and to reflect with hope for peace in our world today. All are welcome.”

Services such as this can be found across the UK. More locally, there are services in Monmouth, Blaenavon and The Forest of Dean including Cinderford, Newent, Coleford and Lydney.

More information about VJ Day and services across the country can be found via the Royal British Legion website.
